KD Safeguarding Conference

23rd May 2023, 9am – 4pm, The Village Hotel, Bury

Our annual safeguarding conference is a fantastic day for delegates to network, reflect and keep up to date with the latest safeguarding practice. This year, we have two keynote speakers and a powerful drama performance to explore extremism.

Women’s Aid

A thought provoking keynote to support professionals to recognise and challenge victim blaming practice. This keynote will highlight the complexities of working with domestic abuse and the importance of holding the person responsible for the harm to account.

Marie Collins Foundation

Recognising and raising awareness of the impact of technology assisted sexual abuse on the child and their family, Rhiannon McDonald, a Victim and Survivor Advocate shares her story.

Access 27

‘Causing Smoke’, a powerful performance which explores the process of radicalisation and right-wing extremism, through the story of one young person who is targeted as their pain and anger becomes their vulnerability.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to attend three of the following workshops:

  • Women’s Aid Explore the nature and impact of coercive control and how this features in abusive relationships.
  • Marie Collins Foundation Develop ways to support people to recover from technology assisted sexual abuse in childhood.
  • Barnardo’s Safeguarding children who are seeking asylum and children who are trafficked.
  • CPOMS How to get the most out of CPOMS… A practical workshop that helps safeguarding leads to create meaningful analysis and reports to support a strategic and proactive approach to safeguarding.
  • Young Minds Supporting professionals to consider participation strategies to ensure children play a meaningful part in shaping their school’s mental health offer.
